Since I have not been posting deviations for a while I figured I should at least do a review of Godzilla King of the monsters. Also to let you know I did not do alot of proof reading so forgive me if some of my sentences look incomplete. And I believe I may be leaving out some more Pros and Cons I've had about the Movie.
Okay first off I'll go for the positives I have and then go with the negatives, yes unfortunately I do have some negatives about this movie.
Here we Go!
The Positives:
I absolutely love all the monsters new designs in this film especially Rodan being in the form of a living fire demon and his skin being the textures of Lava, which definitely gives the monster a very bad ass updated design and making me a huge huge Rodan fan. Mothra, Rodan, and Ghidorah's new designs have easily became my new favorite designs. I love Ghidorah's awakening scene in Antarctica along with the music it gives him a menacing portrayal of what kind of threat he's about to unleash upon humanity and on earth, after the devastation hes bringing upon the humans Godzilla emerges in with his Classic modernized theme, a truly spectacular moment. I also love Rodan first appearance of him emerging from the Volcano with his theme definitely makes him a terrifying bad ass titan. And of course the part where Rodan's being lured into the storm to fight Ghidorah and the feeling of anticipation of them about collide is brilliant. It was also great to hear a lot of the classic themes modernize especially Godzilla's theme, Mothra's theme and of course the Blue Oyster Cult song. The film also contained a lot of Easter eggs My favorites were the two scenes with Rodan paying tribute to the Giant Claw (1957) and that creepy statue that you see from the beginning of the Exorcist. Monster fights were great it's about time we got to see those classic fighting scenes modernized on a Hollywood budget level, Ghidorah's ultimate defeat was epic it's one of the most satisfying villain deaths ever IMO. I love that all these monsters have there own cinematography like when when Ghidorah comes in everything is the color of lightening; the power that he posses, When Rodan comes in everything is orange representing the color of Flames, for Mothra its light blue and for Godzilla everything is Atomic blue. Ken Watanabe's moment with Godzilla was a heartfelt moment and it made his death a powerful one, cuz he lost Vivienne Graham now he has to sacrifice himself to save Godzilla.
The Negatives:
I did not like the Human character development and story in this film. Many would say who cares we just want to see monsters fight and stuff, the point is if we wish for the Godzilla franchise to expand and gain a larger audience you need that story and human character development in order to make the monster fight scenes more effective and have general audiences find some appeal to it. other wise it will just be seen as a dumb monster/action movie like the Michael Bay Transformers films and that's not what I wanted this film and the Godzilla franchise to be seen as, I do not like how Vera Farmiga's character was written, her motivation did not make sense to me and this character was truly one of the worst moms I've seen in film history, Zhang Ziyi from my understanding was only in there just to get a Chinese audience. What I really hate is how some block buster films feel the need to shove a Chinese actor in a movie just to get a Chinese audience in my opinion its not needed at all!!!!! And a lot of times she just makes physical appearances without doing anything which could be instead Millie Bobby Brown's or Kyle Chandler's character instead. Also the film feels like a separate movie, at times I don't feel like I'm watching a sequel of Godzilla 2014, this is mainly for its tone and Cinematography, I also feel that you didn't need to put 19 other Titans in the movie, I felt that they only needed to be mentioned and that way they could have saved a lot of the films budget on the main four. Speaking of which I hated how Rodan became Ghidorah's lackey after getting beaten by him it took almost everything that was bad ass about him away and then betraying Mothra and Godzilla at the end fight?!! I truly utterly despised that. Why could it not be the epic Three against one like Ghidorah the Three headed monster? Isn't Rodan suppose to be protecting earth? Why are the Titans serving Ghidorah even though his motives are to destroy there home planet? I'm utterly confused. I wish they did not make any mention of King Kong until the very end, I think they showed him way too much and it got a little annoying and i'm like okay I get it Kong is part of this universe, The thing I loved about Kong: Skull Island is that there was hardly any reference of Godzilla you only heard about the 1954 nuclear testings and u saw the cave paintings of them which was not until the after credits. Which made Kong Skull Island stand out well as a stand alone film.
Buttom Line Michael Dougherty does understand this franchise very well and I consider him a true fan, but he did not seem to know how to develop good human characters in a Godzilla movie, one there being too many characters.
My Overall score: 6.3/10
I really hope Godzilla vs Kong can save the Monsterverse.

Hey guys since sry for not posting any deviations lately I've been real busy on a face portrait that was not really meant to be uploaded on Deviant Art.
Right now I am currently working on a Bambi Meets Godzilla drawing to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the short cartoon and to celebrate the new films release in Japan, Hopefully I will have it done by July 25th.
Oh how I wished I had Cs5 so I could color it too.

Sry there hasn't been a deviation for quite a while like 45 days, but do no fear, I just finished 2 new ones haven't had a chance to upload them cuz my buddy was recovering from his surgery, and now he is fully recovered.
now I can have him go scan em for me at his work place.
so expect them to be uploaded this month and there is one I am submitting at the Godzilla art contest which has to be done before the 19th.

Why?
Well the only place where I can have my sketches scanned is at my friends work place and recently he just underwent a serious surgery and he wont be able to go back to work till April.
But that doesn't mean I will not be doing any new drawings, right now I am working on a Godzilla vs Mothra Pic to celebrate the films 50th anniversary.
